Experience the Celtic traditions of Scotland and Ireland on a 2 week tour commencing in Glasgow on the River Clyde and ending in Bunratty on the River Shannon. Discover some of Scotland’s most famous lochs and glens enroute to Inverness plus a visit to the romantic Isle of Skye. Get a taste for single malt whisky before crossing the Firth of Forth to glorious Edinburgh and a final traditional Scottish evening.

A short flight takes you across the Irish Sea to Dublin and the Emerald Isle for another week of Celtic magic. A drive north thru’ the Boyne Valley to Belfast birthplace of the ill-fated Titanic; along the Antrim Coast via the Giant’s Causeway; into Sligo and Mayo to Croagh Patrick and rugged Connemara; the lunar-like landscape of the Burren of Clare and Cliffs of Moher to the picturesque village of Bunratty.

Your Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Glasgow (Saturday)

Arrive at Glasgow Airport, meet your coach and guide and depart for a Panoramic city tour of Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland. Here the legacy of centuries of wealth and achievement comes vividly to life in an architectural heritage recognized and celebrated worldwide. Check into your hotel where you will enjoy a welcome drink. Dinner/Overnight –Menzies Hotel, Glasgow

Day 2 Burns Country (Sunday)

After breakfast, depart for Robbie Burns Country where you will visit Scotland's new, international hub for Burns heritage. A bold state-of-the-art, ecofriendly museum giving visitors a fantastic new insight into the life and legacy of one of the world's best loved writers. We also visit the 18th-century thatched cottage where Burns was born. Late afternoon return to Glasgow – if time permits, visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum. This fine national art collection contains superb paintings and sculptures. Overnight – Menzies Hotel, Glasgow

Day 3 Glasgow, West Coast, Loch Ness & Inverness (Monday)

Depart Glasgow for Inverness Area travelling via the West Coast and Loch Ness. You will enjoy a short stop at Loch Lomond, the largest stretch of inland water in Britain, and framed by lovely mountain scenery. You will also drive through Glencoe, the dramatic and historic glen (valley), scene of the 1692 massacre of part of the MacDonald clan by soldiers of King William. Your journey will continue via Loch Ness. Famous worldwide for its mysterious inhabitant, the Loch Ness Monster. On the banks of the loch you will visit Urquhart Castle, one of the largest castle ruins in Scotland. Enjoy a cruise on the loch before continuing to Inverness. Dinner/Overnight- Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness

Day 4 Isle of Skye (Tuesday)

Depart Inverness Area for a day trip to the Isle of Skye, one of the most beautiful and romantic islands in the Scottish Highlands. You will cross the new Skye Bridge to the Isle of Skye. Continue your journey northwards through the imposing Cuillin Hills. Before returning to Inverness, you will visit Eilean Donan Castle, which stands on an islet connected by a causeway in Loch Duich. This picturesque and inhabited castle dates back to 1214 and has been the setting for many adverts and movies, such as Highlander. Overnight – Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness.

Day 5 Culloden, Speyside & Perthshire (Wednesday)

Today you will depart Inverness for Perthshire. You will visit Culloden Moor, the site of the battle on 16 April 1746, when the forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie were defeated by the English government army, so ending the Forty-Five Jacobite uprising. You visit the new visitor centre, which includes an exciting, interpretive exhibition. Continue through Speyside, which is famous for its whisky distilleries, to Perthshire. You will visit Edradour Distillery, the smallest distillery in Scotland, established in 1825. You will taste a hand-crafted single malt whisky. Dinner/Overnight – Hilton Dunblane Hydro , Dunblane

Day 6 St. Andrews & Edinburgh (Thursday)

Depart Perthshire for Edinburgh via the Kingdom of Fife. You will visit St Andrews, the home of the oldest university in Scotland and capital of golf with its famous and prestigious Old Course. You will have time to explore this charming, picturesque royal burgh. You could also visit St Andrew’s Castle, where many evil deeds took place during the Reformation, or St Andrew’s Cathedral, which was built in the early 12th century. Some free time this afternoon in Edinburgh. Overnight – Barcelo Carlton, Edinburgh

Day 7 Edinburgh (Friday)

Depart for a panoramic city tour of Edinburgh where you will appreciate the contrast between the 18th century Georgian "New Town" with its wide, tree lined streets and elegant squares and the medieval "Old Town". The Royal Mile is the backbone of the old quarter, running from the Palace of Holyrood House to Edinburgh Castle. You will visit Edinburgh Castle, one of the most famous castles in the world, housing the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny. The rest of the day is free for your leisure. This evening you will attend a traditional Scottish Evening which is sure to be a highlight of the tour.Dinner/Overnight – Barcelo Carlton, Edinburgh

Day 8 Depart Scotland for Ireland (Saturday)

Today we say goodbye to Scotland, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Dublin. You will be greeted on arrival and you will enjoy a pre-dinner drink and an introduction to some new travelling companions before an early dinner in your hotel. Dinner/Overnight – Grand Hotel, Malahide

Day 9 Boyne Valley & Cooley Peninsula (Sunday)

Leaving Dublin, we head north thru’ the rich pasturelands of the Boyne Valley and visit the site of the famous Battle of the Boyne near Drogheda where in 1690 King William defeated his father-in-law King James. Afterwards we continue around the Cooley Peninsula, see ‘the Mountains sweep down to the sea’ and arrive in Belfast late afternoon. Before checking into our hotel we visit the Ulster Museum, a treasure house of the past and present. Dinner/ Overnight – Malone Lodge Hotel, Belfast

Day 10 Belfast’s Titanic Quarter (Monday)

A guided tour of Belfast City Hall, recently renovated, is first on the agenda this morning. Then a panoramic tour which will include the political wall murals located on the Protestant Shankill Road and the Catholic Falls Road - a unique cultural experience. See also the shipyard where the Titanic was built in 1909 and learn all about one of the most intriguing stories in history. Some free time is allowed during the day for shopping and browsing. Day 11 Giant’s Causeway & Derry (Tuesday)

This morning we take the marine drive north via Carnlough, Glenariff the ‘Queen of the Glens of Antrim’ and Ballycastle on the North Antrim Coast. We visit the Giant’s Causeway, one of Ireland’s most famous attractions and then view the eerie ruins of Dunluce Castle enroute to Londonderry or Derry as most people call it. A local guide will tell the ‘Story of Derry’ on a walking tour of this historic walled city. Dinner/ Overnight – Kee’s Hotel, Co. Donegal

Day 12 Ben Bulben & Clew Bay (Wednesday)

We travel south thru’ Donegal town to Mullaghmore for views of Donegal Bay and on to Belleek to visit the world famous porcelain factory. We then enter the romantic domain of W.B. Yeats via Drumcliffe where he is buried and other sites in Sligo associated with the life of the poet. Into County Mayo to 13th Ballintubber Abbey which was built on the site of a church founded by St. Patrick in 441, 276 years before Columbus discovered America continuing to Westport on Clew Bay with its 365 islands. Dinner/Overnight – Atlantic Coast Hotel, Westport

Day 13 Connemara (Thursday)

Connemara remains the wildest and the most romantic place in Ireland. A drive around Murrisk Peninsula brings us to Delphi and Killary Harbour Ireland’s only true fjord. Enjoy a photo stop at Kylemore Abbey on the shores of Kylemore Lough before circling Connemara and crossing picturesque Maam Valley. Back in Westport you will have time to explore this lovely town which was voted Ireland’s tidiest in 2008. Dinner/Overnight – Atlantic Coast Hotel, Westport

Day 14 Galway City & the Cliffs of Moher (Friday)

Enroute to Galway this morning we will pass thru’ the village of Cong, location for the classic film ‘The Quiet Man’. Some time in Galway City before driving along the southern shores of Galway Bay, traversing the Burren region and viewing the mighty Cliffs of Moher. An optional Traditional Irish Night at the Corn Barn in Bunratty Folk Park is on offer tonight. Overnight – Bunratty Castle Hotel, Bunratty

Day 15 Tour Ends (Saturday)

Your tour ends after a final hearty Irish breakfast in your hotel. Transfer to Dublin Airport available for those returning home today from Dublin.
